I got a intel quad core i7 920 CPU for my first build. I would like to get the best parts possible on my budget of $700 dollars (I'm trying to get a job so that budget will hopefully increase). I don't know anything about what will be good for my CPU so please help me out. I had an impulse buy and idk if I should be regretting my buy or embracing it.
To get an idea of the games I like here are some games I played when I had a ps3: Battlefield, GTA, Batman Arkham City, and The Last of Us, Fallout. With my first pc I would like to play games like Garry's Mod (mostly ttt), EU4, Kings Crusade 2, Arma 3, and Dayz. I do not know if I will be able to play theses games with my budget but I hope I can. Help me find the right parts for my first pc build.
(And also put why you recommend parts for me to use. Help increase my knowledge in pc parts so that I may do better in future builds).

Well you will not get the latest Core i7 or even a Core i5 for the price you paid. But if you are looking to get the latest gen, and have an easier time finding a motherboard I would get a 4th Gen Core i5 or if you can afford it a Core i7

Core i5 ($234.99) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CO8TBOW/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00CO8TBOW&linkCode=as2&tag=steam08-20

Core i7 ($333.99) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CO8TBQ0/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00CO8TBQ0&linkCode=as2&tag=steam08-20

You can then get a cheaper but still decent motherboard for around $90...

You may have a bit of a hard time finding a motherboard for your CPU. It is a first gen Core i7, and we are almost into the 5th gen. I believe you will need a Socket LGA1366 motherboard. I did a search on newegg for this board and It is looking like they only carry server versions of the board. How much did you pay for the CPU?

After that get some DDR3 RAM and everything else should work together. If you need any help see my tutorial on my site, and I have a bunch of compatible parts listed on it as well. http://steamoctane.com/2014/06/build-gaming-pc/
