I recently bought an outrageously expensive laptop (ASUS G750JZ-XS72) from GenTech PC, an ASUS recommended retailer. I paid extra and opted for a clean OS install and a restore DVD to be created before they shipped it. One problem: when they did the clean OS install, they wiped out my factory partition and stuck me with WIndows 8.1 not the Windows 8.1 PRO that the laptop came from ASUS with.
Now i'm playing patty cake with Microsoft/ASUS/and GenTech trying to figure out who the heck owes me a PRO OS. MS says OEM, OEM says RMA it (not going to happen) and GenTech sent me a DVD with "8.1 Pro" handwritten on it with a Sharpie. When I put the disk into my laptop to "upgrade to PRO" as GenTech says I should be able to do, I'm prompted for an 8.1 Pro Key. I tried getting into my BIOS and using the key that resides on my laptop, but its a no-go.
Now GenTech has sent me to this forum (http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=209045) for some kind of USB hack for Windows 7 that I can't really figure out.

Bottom Line is This: How on earth do I get my Pro OS either from the DVD they sent me or from this USB hack. Can anyone from Trusty Tom's Hardware helpout?

Thanks, and Take Care,

E

If it had Pro on it when you got it, then you should have the Key for the original Pro OS with it somewhere, a sticker on the laptop, box, manual, something and use the DVD they sent
