Based on some of what i've read over the past few hours.. Say for example i have a 120GB Samsung 840EVO and a 1TB WD Blue.

This is how they're going to be optimized(based on how i understood them).
1. The OS loads into the SSD, all other non-essential files into the HDD.

2. I need to disable System restore, hibernation, drive indexing and defragmentation on the SSD.
However, should i keep defrag and drive indexing on the HDD? I probably should, right?

3. Prefetch and Superfetch. I think it can only be disabled/enabled for all the drives? And since i have an SSD, and assuming that i'll put all the important programs there, then i should have no performance decrease. So i should overall disable these?

4. I don't quite understand Intel RST.. So.. uh.. Do i need it? Am i better of with it or what?

5. I have read that when you have 16GB of ram, you wouldn't necessarily need a pagefile? Assuming that i have 8 or 16GB of ram.. Do i disable page file completely? Put a small amount in my SSD and a large amount on my HDD or all of them in the SSD or what? I've read multiple forums contradicting each other so i'm not too sure.

6. Switch to AHCI mode before installing Windows 8.1

7. Write cache buffer and flushing should be enabled for data integrity etc.. True, right? I assume there won't be any performance decrease that i can notice while using the computer?

That's about all i can think of now.. If you want to add anything else you think is important i should know, please. And thank you in advanced. :)

UPDATE:
8. What do i do with ClearPageFileAtShutdown and LargeSystemCache?

Solution
1. - OK

2. You don't defrag ssds - they use Trim function for housekeeping

3. Only load the OS to the SSD

5. 8GB is enough for gaming. Pagefile only comes into it if you have way less and are trying to over multi task.

6. Yes through Bios - its usually the default anyway

7. SSD firmware handles all ops.

Alright.. Sorry for being superslow..
2. i did say i won't defrag the SSDs but i will keep indexing and defrag on my HDD just like old times. done?
3. So the bottomline is.. Disable Prefetch/Superfectch?
5. I'll be doing Animation on Cinema4D and Aftereffects.. I have a high chance of using 8GB 1866 RAM. Do i disable or enable it completely?
Thank you very much for the fast and informative reply!
