Anyone who has/had this card - is its stock cooling sufficient? (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202103&cm_re=Sapphire_Vapor-X_R9_290-_-14-202-103-_-Product) I saw a test on Youtube where the GPU was running with Intelligent Fan Control, fans going at 37 RPM. The temperature topped out at 68 Celsius with the card running at 1030MHz. It ran at about 60 FPS, maximum of 113 and minimum of 28.

The video is located here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fI6dVPkwhU

If I will be keeping this card long-term (it will likely have to last out three or four years, if not longer, so I want to avoid inflicting long-term heat damage that will weaken the performance down the line) is it recommended to keep the stock Vapor-X cooler? If not, what are some good GPU alternatives in both aircooling and watercooling (assuming I can even get my hands on a waterblock)?

You will not damage these cards @ ~70 degrees, this is a common temperature for many graphics cards. Besides this, the 290 and 290x were intended to and often did run in the 90c range with their reference cooler designs,so 68 is a vast improvement, and will last for a long while..

You are pretty well off with that card. the vapor x is, IMO, the best of the third party r9 coolers. it can handle a r9 290x oced and overvolted no problem. now, if you want watercooling, you are in luck. earlier today, EK announced they are releasing a waterbock specifically for the vapor x line. http://www.techpowerup.com/205394/ek-introduces-sapphire-vapor-x-r9-290x-water-block.html
