Hi

I am currently in France and I need to decide between two laptops. Both are identical in except for the processor and GPU. I wanted to know which combination would be better? One is a 100 euros more and cheaper one was already pushing my budget of 850 euros. I do not really want to splash out another 100 Euros unless it is really worth it.

Usage: I love gaming but due to my budget I can not splash out. I will probably be playing BF4, War Thunder, Skyrim, CS:GO, LOL and any other new games that come out. I do not mind playing at medium settings, as long as I get to play online!

Note: I have 250GB SSD which I will transfer over to the new laptop. Probably upgrade the RAM as well to 8GB+ (depending on how much spare cash I have)

Msi - GE60 2PC-027XFR Apache (950 Euro)
Intel Core i7-4700HQ (2.4 GHz)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 850M 2GB

Laptop 15.6'' Full HD, 1 TB HDD, 4 GB RAM

Msi - GE60 2PE-209XFR Apache Pro (850 Euro)
Intel Core i5-4200H (2,8 GHz)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M 2GB

15,6'' Full HD, HDD 1 TB, RAM 4 GB

Will really appreciate your help!

I would go for the i5 and the 860m for pure gaming ;)
The i5 handles the games better than the i7 and you even get a better GPU so you dont need to splash out a 100 euros go with the 850 euro :)

Thank you for your answer! I am leaning towards the i5 + GTX 860 as well.

I am only hesitating because I came across a few posts on-line recommending i7 since it has 4 cores and that the next gen games will all be using quad core or more.

Hello!
I am asking myself the exact same question. Have you run some test on your recently purchased laptop?
Or can you just tell me what games are you playing to and with which settings please?
Thank you for answer!

i5 + 860m! The gpu will bottleneck far before the cpu when looking at gpus of this power.
