Hi there :)
I've got a spare TV sitting at home, so I was wondering if I could make good use out of it by hooking it up as a second monitor for my PC. I would prefer it if I didn't have to share the power from my GPU (Palit GTX 650ti) for the both the screens, so I was wondering if it would be possible to have the second monitor using integrated graphics.
This is the card I have: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Palit-GeForce-Graphics-Express-...
The processor I have is an i3-2120.
My card is currently connected to my monitor using the VGA slots. I know for sure there is a HDMI slot on my old TV.
So, basically, I would like to ask two things - first, whether a second monitor can be connected to the motherboard integrated graphics whilst the main screen is connected to the graphics card, and secondly, whether I can use a flatscreen TV as a second monitor using HDMI.
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks :)

this is possible, in BIOS just enable both graphics adapters (GPU and Integrated graphics), this will run both separately. -This only works for some motherboards.

Just plug the T.V. into motherboard output (Video) and Monitor into graphics card, simple but effective!

the flatscreen T.V., if using a HDMI-HDMI cable will work no problem.

You can but you shouldn't. TV's make really crappy monitors. And don't try inputting to hdmi like a lot of dills here seem to - doesn't work on a tv.

You can hook up integrated to one and 650ti to the other if bios will let you have both on at once. Not all do.

To be honest, the most I will do is have it showing Skype or a browser whilst I'm in the middle of a full screen game. Do you think I could use it for something like that?

yes, you can. That's what i use two monitors for (though you are using a T.V.)

You can but it'll be crappy. Needs a vga/pc input to work. Else it won't work

some work through HDMI, the T.V. gets tricked into thinking it's some other video input, which it essentially is.

it can get complicated when the pc doesn't see a monitor and when the tv doesn't see an input.

That can happen with hdmi inputs as they don't register as a source for the tv right away then switch automatically

true, it is only worth a shot if they have a HDMI cable already, no point buying one to discover that it may/not work.
