My pc is 3 years old and now running w8.1 update 1

Specs
I3-2100 3.1Ghz
DH67BL mobo
8GB RAM
NO GPU...!!!

Do i need to buy i5/i7 along with gpu or only gpu would do fine...??

My requirements...
Want to play games released in 2013-14(crysis 3 etc) and to be released in 2015..i dont care about 2016 games

Budget...may vary...preferably less than ₹30k($500)

Depends on which settings you'r going to play. For 1080p + Medium settings, R9 270x will do its job well with i3 2100 without significant bottleneck. Will also leave you some cash to upgrade to 3rd gen i5 (non-K).

You can get i5 3470 + Sapphire Dual-X R9 270x and be able to max out majority of games while still giving fluid fps.

Your CPU will be a bottleneck to higher performing GPU's like GTX 770 or R9 280x which are close to your budget, around 24k INR.

I can max out crysis 3 at 1080p with just a GTX 660 and FX 8350, not to much cost :)

Seriously? 60fps? 4xmsaa? My gtx 680 and 7950 crossfire couldn't do that.

thanx maktovic, but is lukelaw correct...??
would i be able to play Crysis 3 and watchdogs at 1080p(any setting...just no lag)
if thats correct how about 650ti boost or just simple ti and saving money for a whole system upgrade in 2016-17(intel tick tock could give us an amazing technology in 2017

R9 270x is way better than 650Ti boost or GTX 660. To max out watchdogs @1080p you'll need something like GTX 770/R9 280x to give playable fps along with i5 or better.

Yeah, agreed. The 650's are the start of the modern high end card from nvidia and they aren't very good at anything

bro..i dont want max settings..just that much fps that i can run without lag...i played tomb raider with my current settings...and it was like hell...!!
i dont have problem with low settings until i get a smooth play even if that means compromising quality.

just saw there is only a bit of price difference between 270x and ti boost...thanx for the advice..
finally going only with 270x..no i5

Great, R9 270x will be best choice for your system, faster than 650 Ti Boost & GTX 660

Then you should consider GTX 750 Ti instead. Better than GTX 650 Ti and is slightly slower than 650 Ti boost but is very energy efficient, 650 Ti boost are also hard to find.

i3 2100 + 750 Ti + 8GB will handle games like Crysis 3 @1080p + Low settings
