I didn't really wont to change the power supply just yet
cpu is a Intel Core i7- 870 2.93 GHz Quad-Core 8 MB Cache
games sniper elite and crysis 3
budget about £200.00

amd games :) they would run amazingly on a r9 270/270x but you would need a 500watt psu.

your cpu is showing its age and it would likely show in many games but sniper elite and crysis and optimized nicely.

its hard to say if the upgrade is worth it as the motherboard has a outdated lga 1156 cpu socket that you cant upgrade so...

I do like amd as I have one in my dell 990 at the moment. what would be the next option after the r9 270/270x to get the wattage down til I can get the cash for the power supply. I don't really wont to kill this pc wifey would kill me lol

The i7-870 performs better than an FX-8320 and comparable to an FX-8350, so it's still very usable as a gaming CPU.

Also, AMD doesn't make games, so I don't know where you got that idea.

you know very well amd sponsors games so you eat a damn cookie.

the 8350 am3+ is dead just like the i7-870 lga 1156. and if i would have known the things i know now 2 years ago i never would have spent my money on a am3+ system but probably still amd cards.

people need some good information before they do something like putting money into upgrading a crap old dell.. eww

Then the GTX 750 (probably non-TI) will be your only real option that's capable of good graphics.
