Hi guys,

Wanting to know what I should do with the computer I currently have. I am a big gamer and love PC gaming but don't know much about the insides of a PC. This computer runs most games really well on medium or so settings but I would like to go for something that can handle some of the much bigger games on ultra and maintain a nice fps as well as using it for video editing and rendering. Wanting to know your thoughts on this as I would like to upgrade the parts inside rather than buy new.

CPU - 6Cores AMD 2.81GHz 1055T
RAM - 8G ram DURAL CHANNEL
GRAPHIC - SAPPHIRE HD5850 1G DDR5, 2X256BIT
HDD - 2TB HDD
MOBO - GIGABYTE 880GA-UD3H
PSU - COOLERMASTER 460W
TOWER CASE - ANTEC TOWER CASE

Thanks

Solution
I'd upgrade GPU first and see how that feels. If you want more then upgrade cpu + mobo. This should also be a time to consider a new PSU with 550/600W, IF you want a gpu such as 270x or 760.

It is well within my budget, I was thinking budget wise to be around 800-1000 all up. Anything else or should I upgrade the GPU more or otherwise?

Hey Guys,
So I upgraded my computer yesterday and its working like a charm. I swapped out the GPU for a GTX 760 and changed the power supply to 650W. I also bought a small 120gb SSD for Windows and other programs. I've been using it for about a day now and it works better than I had hoped. Startup is so much faster than before due to the SSD and I can play most high end games such as Battlefield 3, Battlefield Hardline, etc on High/Ultra settings while maintaining a nice 40-60 FPS as opposed to the 20 odd FPS I would get before. I also noticed rendering videos in Sony Vegas takes much less time and the preview window doesn't have lag anymore. All in all I am really happy with these upgrades and even happier with the price :p. Next step in the near future is to upgrade my CPU and Motherboard. Thanks for all the help :)

For those interested here are the parts I currently have: http://nz.pcpartpicker.com/p/ZrM7pg

^ Good to hear. I was a little surprised about BF3 results. A 760 should max out BF4 on Ultra 1080p with average of 60+fps. Maybe that Phenom is showing its age, although I think it is still got more life left in it. But you'll upgrade it someday probably not too far off....You gonna go AMD or Intel in the future.

SSDs are awesome. Everything snaps open so much faster with one. Faster startup is cool but what really is cool is opening applications or saving to the SSD.

I downloaded CPU-Z and found out that my CPU core speed was only at about a 0.8GHz core speed so I messed around within the BIOS and overclocked it to about 3.4GHz and that seems to have increased the FPS by about 20 in all games which is awesome. Probably gonna go for Intel, maybe an I7 4770K or something along the lines of that. Any suggestions on further future upgrades? (CPU, Motherboard, etc)

i7 4770k is overkill. You could get a i5 4670k or 4690k (for sale really soon) and those will perform the same as the i7 in games.

For now, I'd look into overclocking your CPU better. I'm not sure what to expect from the CPU but compare your CPU/mobo to other overclocked builds to give you a ballpark guess as to where your overclock should be.
