I plan on upgrading from an Athlon II X3 455 to AMD FX-6300.
Will I notice a massive performance increase (gaming&windows related things) if I make this upgrade ?

Solution
it depends on what gpu you have. if your current gpu is being bottlenecked by your cpu then yes you will see a significant jump in performance for gaming if its not bottlnecking you may get 5% gains. if your talking cpu intensive apps again you will see a bump but it will depend on the apps and how well threaded they are. things like mocrosoft word will just run a bit smoother, while things like css and photoshop would see a good bump on things like running image filters that use the cpu.

I have a Radeon HD 7770 OC, so I guess the cpu is indeed bottlenecking it
Well actually I do intend to change my mobo as well and buy some new ram; any advice in ~100 $ range for a good mobo for this processor?
Oh and on some websites I found that this CPU supports 1866 mhz memory, does it mean that this is the maximum frequency for the memory that the cpu can support or does it mean that the CPU only works on 1866 memory?
