I have a Dell XPS15 laptop (out of warranty by a couple months) that just had a hard drive crash. I installed a brand new WD black 750GB and installed windows 7. I need to load drivers for the USB and ethernet ports. I need drivers for the usb ports and internet but am not sure how to get them onto the machine. I have the drivers stored on an external HDD. The USB drives are recognized in BIOS but not in Disk Management or anywhere in windows. Can I copy them to a DVD RW and and load them that way?
When I plug the ethernet cable in, my router recognizes the connection, but the computer does not.
I guess there is one other tidbit of information I should mention. While installing windows 7, i accidentally grabbed the disc which had already been installed on our desktop PC. I have the new copy but simply (foolishly) grabbed the wrong disk. I didnt realize it until after I finished setup. I did a clean install with the new version.
Any help would be great!
