Do I need to overclock to run 2 GPUs.

Currently I am leaning towards getting a 4460 or 4670 w/ GTX 660. Now in the future if I want ot add another better GPU to SLI it, would those 2 be sufficent to run 2 GPUs, for example I get some GPU like GTX 770 would these processors be fine if I added that + a 660.

And can someone please recommend me a good motherboard to go with either of these processors.

Lastly I was wondering if not overclocking I won't be able to run the high end games (like BF4/watchdogs on high, medium at the very least). at 60-100 fps.

Thankyou

Yes, either would be fine at stock settings.

You'll need a Z series motherboard to run SLI though, with good enough PCI-E Lanes. At least 2 at 8x-8x speeds, 4x will cause a bit of a bottleneck. What's your budget for the motherboard?

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you need to have the same model of GPU to SLI, and you can't go about pairing a 770 with a 660 (unless you dedicate one to Physx or something?). Additionally, SLI doesn't always provide the performance boost it promises, and causes microstutters in many instances. So, it would make more sense to have one stronger GPU than 2 weaker ones. A single 770 would be more than enough for ultra/high.

If you get 770 you can't sli it with 600 series if you get 770 and some i5 4th gen you will get solid fps i get in bf4 770 msi i5 3350p on ultra like 59-114 fps in watch dogs 40-70 but watch dogs is crappy ass game its unoptimized ubisoft shat themselves again so you will be fine but get the i5 4th gen with the k 4670

Great Thanks. So is there any MOBO you can reccomend I decided to just go for the best and if the the future i want to overclock/upgrade I can easily do so and just buy a new GPU needed so i should spend the extra $40. So is there any Z series you could reccomend thats around $100. If its way better though I can understand. Currently I am looking at the Asus Fatal1ty Z87 mainly because its the only one I can find thats that cheap.

a motherboard can be recommended if you provide a budget :p and how much ram do you intend to have?
pair identical gpu's in sli
if eager to run latest hardware hungry games, better to opt for one more recent GPU and an i7 CPU with the option to upgrade with a second identical GPU in SLI, then there's a question of is your PSU big enough to handle the Dual GPU? Best provide a full spec

Am not much of a mobo expert i know the main things about them and also avoid the asrock one of my friend's had some issue with it msi, asus and gigabyte are one of the best out there as i know also you will need a a mobo with 2x gpu sockets for 2x sli and a minimum mid case to avoid overheating you will need a full tower or some good midi.

These are all the things I have and essentially must have. I know its pretty bad but I am stuck with this. The only thing I can change is CPU/MOBO. I know I need more ram and will be getting it eventually later down the line when I get a better GPU. As someone said a sole 700 series would be better then 2 600 so I will probably go with just a better GPU when I have money to upgrade.

At this point my budget is less than $400 but the thing is I am stuck atleast for a couple months with these parts. All I want ot change is my CPU, MOBO, and PSU since people are calling it shit.
