I am trying to connect an additional monitor to my pc which has a vga connection

I have a titan gpu which comes with 1 hdmi 1 display port and 2 dvi ports, 1 is Dvi-d (dual) which is not used. And a display port 2.1
I am current using 1 hdmi port for my tv and 1 of the Dvi ports for a monitor

My motherboard is z87x-oc whi also had 2 hdmi ports and a display port.

I have tried to use a hdmi vga adapter to connect the motherboard hdmi but it doesn't seem to work, the monitor is not detected.

What is the best way of connecting this monitor and what exactly would I need to do it?

Use the Dvi-d for your dvi-monitor and the dvi-i port for the vga monitor the dvi-i-to-vga-converter should have been in the box. Use a (passiv) adapter cable (dvi-i-to-vga), if you don't have it anymore.
The onboard doesn't work, because it get's deactivated when the titan is detected. You can try to activate it in bios, but have to install the Intel drive beside the NVIDIA driver then.

I should have mentioned, the other monitor, which is also vga is using the dvi port using an adapter.

Regarding the hdmi on the motherboard, I have installed the driver for the inboard gpu, are you familiar with the bios on this, I'm not sure how to activate this, also will it effect my current signals?
