Hi!!! Hi have a DELL Optiplex 780 series that i am currently working on and changing the parts. I currently put in 10 gigs of ram and a nivida graphics card. I am now running at about 60 fps on just MINECRAFT. I find this a issue, becuse i wanna play other games such has COD, Battlefeild 4, And possably watch dogs. So i want to get my computer from 2005 to run next-gen games. I currently know/intrested in a core right now. It is a AMD proccessor with 4 cores. About what i need. But i have 2 problems.

1. Can my DELL Optiplex 780 Series fit the core that i am hopeing to purchase? (http://shop.amd.com/US/All/Detail/Processor/AD560KWOHJBOX?SearchFacets=category%3AProcessor#Reviews)

2. Becuse my computer is dell/intel based. I am wondering, and probaly being stupid. Will the compoments of this PC support a new core? And if so, will it support a diffrent style/company proccessor from AMD?

If you have any questions just let me know.
Thanks,

SirFrolo.

First of, Minecraft isn't a good benchmark at all when looking at gaming performance, Minecraft uses your CPU* much more than the GPU**, whereas it's the opposite in most games. I can make my pc only achieve 60fps in Minecraft, and then i can launch Battlefield 4 and get 80+ fps, even run Crysis 3 on maxed settings.

Watchdogs and Battlefield 4 is probably some of the more CPU demanding games you can find, so an upgrade would probably be nessesary to play these titles.

[strike]When it comes to the CPU you linked then i can tell you that you SHOULDN'T buy that cpu, you're paying for integrated graphics card here. If your current CPU is FM2 or FM2+, then you should get the AMD Athlon X4 760K, it's faster than the CPU you linked and cheaper...

Link for it here:

[strike]make sure your current CPU is FM2 or FM2+, because the motherboard will only support the type of CPU you have in it currently, so if it's etc. AM2, AM2+ or AM3, then it doesnt support the Athlon X4 760K.[/strike]

EDIT: didn't see you wrote intel based, but it means you can only get CPU's from the same generation, or they call it "Socket [number]"
all motherboards only support one company, so yours only allows Intel CPU's

* CPU is another word for what you call a "core", core is actually something on a CPU.
**GPU = Graphics Card

So the current system is Intel based. You can only use an Intel CPU, from the same generation and socket.

Unless you change 'everything'
Newer CPU = different motherboard = new RAM. Probably a new PSU. Maybe a new case to hold it all.

Your existing system is 9 years old. Trying to make it better is more $$$ than simply building a new one.
