Hi i've had numerous problems when skipping into videos (say 40 minutes into a film) using something programs like vlc player and SMplayer. I'm just about ready to beat the crap out of something cos nothing ever works man. my network is 100Mbit ethernet, it's streaming a HD film from my server (which usually uses around 7MB of data per second per stream), i.e. leaving 5.5MB capacity free. In my books, as a network engineer the network is fine, it's shit software that's doing my nut in.
Anyway no other network traffic is going round my network. When I watch a film it's fine most of the time. But sometimes on mkv films it just gets stuck and keeps looping around the same part of the movie for the same 10 seconds. So the loop occurs every 10 seconds on the same part of the movie. I'm starting to get so really annoyed with stuff not working. Can anyone either recommend a fix, or a better product. I'm frustrated because I don't have a reason [b]why[/b] it would be looping. The server and PC is high spec, and has plenty of capacity on the link to stream the film. Can no-one make good software these days that just works or what?jesus, why is my writing all wierd and got blue bits in. Seriously god is just sucker punching me at every opportunity!
