Hard drive staying at 100%?

Why does my Disk usage randomly hit 100% when I'm playing a game?

I'm currently playing Watchdogs and at first it was running perfectly, but out of nowhere my disk usage hit 100% and I couldn't play the game. This then dropped and stayed between 1-50% for a bit then shot back up to 100% and now I can't play again.

I'm currently running no programs in the background besides skype which doesn't do too much to the disk/cpu etc.

My HDD is: ST1000DM003-1CH162 ATA Device
if that helps at all.

Does anyone know what my problem is?

Also I'm running Windows 8.1.

My cpu doesn't go above 30% (AMD 8320 Eight core)
and my gpu is a gtx 650ti 2gb

You may want to check the resource monitor or install "process explorer" and see how much ram your system actually has in use while the game is running.

Well here is a link of my desktop with those programs open while the game is running, http://puu.sh/9xTiK/606431884e.jpg

As you can see the Disk is at 100%, but it seems like i have 3.5gb of ram on standby?

You have chrome, skype, and steam running in the background. Did you purchase watchdogs via steam? If not, steam may be downloading in the background while you are playing.

What does the disk tab in the resource monitor show is doing all the reading/writing?
