AMD to Intel switch?

My friend is considering going from an AMD A10-7850k to an Intel i5-4670k, while keeping all the same components (except the motherboard and CPU, of course), as well as overclocking to get a better clock. What he wants to know is whether or not this is a somewhat bad idea. He's okay with re-installing drivers etc, but should he really go through with the switch?

Solution
if this is a gaming rig, it is absolutely worth it, it means playing games on medium to ultra, assuming the gpu can handle it. if he has the money, go for it, but you will probly have to re-instal windows, and if it is an OEM copy, it means buying a license (you can buy one online for like $40 if you look around)

The A10 barely works for his needs, and his current budget allows for a pretty significant upgrade. As for the 4690K, I cannot find it (yet) in my country. If it comes out before he upgrades, I will make sure to tell him that he should get it. Thanks.

OK, thanks. His OS is Windows 8.1 that he got off Amazon and, as far as I can tell, it isn't an OEM copy. This is it:

Will he still need to get a new licence?

Thank you all. I've let him know that he should consider waiting for the 4690K, and that it is overall a good idea to go through with the switch and that re-installing Windows will be fine. Again, thanks.
