I tried to reset my computer to factory settings because it was running slow and about half way through it I accidentally unplugged the wires and it didn't fully reset. Whenever I try to turn on my computer, it goes to "windows error recover" and gives me 3 options: safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt and start windows normally" I've tried all 4 options but I always end up with a black screen.

When I try safe mode, it brings me to a start up which says "setup is preparing your computer for first use" and the a pop up appears "windows cannot complete installation in safe mode. To continue installing windows, restart computer"...after pressing okay, the starting windows appears then a black screen appears with only the mouse. I've tried clicking and the keyboard but no response.

When I try to start it normally, it just brings me to a blank screen.

I've also tried pressing f8 with no response and I do not have any disc that was provided. What are my options?

I have a gateway model: SX2370

Do you have the license key written down? Maybe on a sticker on the PC?
If so, you can download the relevant Windows ISO from here:
http://www.w7forums.com/threads/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-image-downloads.12325/

Burn to DVD and install.

I burnt it and tried to run it but there are no options to run it. I hear it loading in the player but nothing pops up.

I did exactly what you posted and got the computer to work but I believe it was the wrong os? The desktop is zoomed in and it doesn't feel genuine. I also cannot connect to the internet because it says there is something wrong with the disc. I will post all my computer information if that helps. Also, I tried to find the windows 7 disc, but as I recalled, it never came with it.

Windows 7 home prem OA
Gateway model number: SX2370

If you need any more information, I could send you the sticker label. Please and thank you.

Would getting the correct windows installation disc and reformatting the computer be a solution? Because now it's say "you may be a victim of software counterfeiting"

Is there a license key printed on the case?

There are two parts to a Windows install.
1. Valid install media. Windows 7 installs can be freely downloaded from here:
http://www.w7forums.com/threads/official-windows-7-sp1-iso-image-downloads.12325/

This may not work with an OEM license, though.

Which brings us to:
2. The actual license. This is probably printed on the case. The manufacturer is required to give you some method of resinstall. Which you started, and then stopped partway through. So whatever exists on the disk is now hosed and probably unrecoverable.

How to proceed? Contact the manufacturer and get a new set of OEM install disk(s). Or buy your own copy.

But when you install the next time, find out why it was taking so long and fix that. Is the HDD dying?
