Hey guys I have done a little bit of reading on this site. I found someone else having a problem very similar to this. One of the people there suggested that he go to event viewer. He had the same problem as me but no one really responded.

I was hoping that maybe there is someone here that can help me out. When I look under "Event Type" there is only one under "Critical" and it says that "Kernel-Power" is the Source and the "Event ID" is 41. It has occurred once in the past twenty four hours and eight times in the past week. Which sounds like it could be my problem.

There are also other instances of "Kernel-Power", "Kernal-PNP", and "Kernel Boot" under Warnings and Errors. However the only one under Critical is the "Kernel Boot". Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just found this:

I have been playing a lot of games lately and using my Graphics Card however this has not happened to my computer while playing a game. It has only happened to me once when I was at the computer and it was totally random while I was surfing the web. Other times I notice it when I am sleeping because I notice the system starting back up.

Yeah the PC will just restart randomly. There is really nothing else. All of the sudden out of nowhere my computer reboots. I just ran a high end game at max resolution for a good while and used a USB controller. I can hear my Graphics card fans working. So even though this is not very demanding of the Power Supply you would figure if it had a problem it would have rebooted during the game.

I also checked the temperatures of my Graphics Card and they are regular. So it just has to be some sort of short or two programs not agreeing or something. I use GPU-Z to check the temperature of my Graphics Card but have not used it in awhile so I don't think it would be that. I have never had Virus Protection on this PC so I might try that.

It slipped my mind that I already installed security software (AVG) to this computer and did a scan. So I don't think it is a virus or anything related. It just rebooted on me a minute ago. I just went to the viewer and "Kernel-Power" was a Critical Event that just happened while I was sitting at my computer. Same thing I listed above.

I was playing a video game and running my Graphics Card pretty hard when it happened. However I had been running it a long time. Also like I already said this has happened several times in the past month or so and this is the first time it happened during a game. So I still think it is something random. Anyone with any ideas? This is quite annoying. Especially if it is damaging my system in anyway.

Another update after I posted the last reply I started the game up again and about twenty minutes later the game locked up when it seemed like the computer was working pretty hard.

This thread pretty much sums it up. No one has figured out the issue though. My Graphics Card is a HD Radeon 6970 and I also have a Gigabyte Motherboard. His Graphics Card is a 6870 but wondering if it could be just a coincidence.

Hey guys I just did a little physical look over of my computer and found out my CPU fan is really loud. I downloaded Core Temp to check it and it looks like it is maxing out around 58C. Which I read to be pretty good especially while under load.

Now here is the thing. The RAM is right beside it and extremely hot. I can not touch it in certain places for more than a couple seconds or it would burn me. I put a little pressure on a couple of the sticks (not a lot). Then boom my computer mirrored what it has been doing (restarted for no apparent reason).

I pulled each stick of RAM out and tested them one by one and that test passed. Each of them (four) were able to boot the computer. Maybe my RAM is getting too hot.

No I have not checked that yet and do not know what "normal" would be. I will have to figure out what function key gets me to my bios as well. I am thinking maybe it could be the RAM, Motherboard, or Power Supply. I am guessing that one of them got screwed up during the last bad power outage we had.

This is a link to the exact RAM I bought off Newegg.

I played last night for several hours with my PC under load from the game and nothing happened. I am starting to think that it is totally random. However when I get back I might press down on the RAM again and see if the same thing happens under normal conditions like what I am doing right now. I mean I barley pressed on the RAM sticks at all.

Please Note: That Newegg do update these links often. So they can change. The link to my Power Supply is a different one now. So I just looked back and wrote it here.

First off I want to thank you Rog for your help. Your time is much appreciate. Having that said I am thinking that this is a voltage problem from my Power Supply. The surge we had may have damaged it. Just hoping it is not a little tiny wire in there somewhere that has nothing to do with the Power Supply. I also have this hooked into a heavy duty cable that splits three ways on the end. It is very large and made to run heavy stuff.

So it might have just damaged that. I might try buying a Surge Suppressor and plugging it into that and seeing what happens. I have been using this machine heavily today and has definitely been under load. Absolutely no problems so I can say this is not often, but often enough to bother me, and most likely completely random.
