I have a 4GB Corsair DDR3 RAM (Vengeance) . its heat sink recently came off by accident.. i have glued it as a temporary fix.. but it does come off often; .. Is the heat sink necessary for the RAM or is it well to do without it? what can b the side effect without the heat sink.. my ram is working at normal default levels .

Solution
Nope; DDR3 RAM runs cool. The heat spreaders (that's what they're called) are mostly for aesthetic purposes. It has no functional purpose. You can saw it off and it'll be fine. (I'm not suggesting that you do it though.)
