realtek audio driver

hi,
I have a dell dimesion c521 and recently upgraded it to win.8.1. After the upgrade I noticed that I no longer had Realtek audio installed, so I have been searching for a way to install realtek audio drivers to no avail! when I try to install it says no drivers supported in drivers package.
Any help would be appreciated!

That's it.. if you see it in the Control Panel and it's not grayed out, it's already installed. You can also check in the Device Manager Computer right click and select Manage, next Device Manager, see under Sound Video and Game Controllers.. if you read Sigmatel or High Deffinition Audio without yellow exclamation or question marks, it's installed. The rest may have to be determining and selecting/defaulting the sound card from a few listed in the Control Panel.

Install a System information program to try and ID the sound card/chip model... or visit the Dell product webpage to identify the sound card/chip... there is no driver for Windows 8 but the version for Windows Vista may work... download it and see if it installs and works.. or go to the Realtek website downloads, and type in the audio card/chip model... if they wrote Windows 8 drivers for the Dimension C521 audio card/chip they will have it listed. If nothing worked, try with SlimDrivers it may find the compatible driver. uninstall the program afterwards.

I tried to download "High Definition Audio Codecs" on the link but while the installer is running a popup box says "no supported driver in driver package." does this mean that they did not write a driver for c521?
And when I download "AC'97 Audio Codecs" it requires a password!

It's not a codec you'd want to install a codec... it's a driver... I suggested the driver for Windows Vista.. if that is what you downloaded and did not install, try downloading one from the Raltek website.. just type in your sound card model and if any driver is available the link should come up for download..

BTW, is your audio card the SIGMATEL STAC 92XX?.. That's what the Dell support page for your computer suggests but for Windows Vista.. the last update is from No. 2011 so it may run under Windows 7 and what works with 7 usually works with win8... if it installs at all.

The password is required to unzip the realtek download for windows(the one from your first link http://www.realtek.com/downloads/).
Tried the most recent link (http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/Drivers/Drive...) and it worked. Does that mean that I am completely updated?
BTW what is the easiest way to see what specific sound card is on my computer? I looked on control panel preferences but just got Sigma Tel High Definition Codec!
