Hi all-

I have a newish Acer laptop, V5-552PG-X469 .. not a world-killer but was good for me and excellent deal I got on it.

A month or two ago I noticed I could not "LocK" the screen, I could sign out or turn the computer off, and no Lock screen like back in Windows 7. I searched and it said I had some corruption on the files, so I asked a question here... I was told to run SFC /SCANNOW... it told me there were problems but they could not be fixed. I asked again here and got 1 answer which was no help, I am not sure if it was a language barrier but I was not really told anything helpful.

I sort of gave up until I could not just now load a PDF - the "Reader" wouldn't work... then I tried to download an update in the Windows Store, and neither the Reader nor 23 other apps would update or download. I tried a bunch of different fixes I got on Google searches, from changing the Temporary Internet Files cache registry value to running a Windows Store fixer program from Microsoft and nothing works. So I am left to believe I have widespread corruption on a less than 6 month old computer (I think I got it either Jan 1 or Jan 2nd of this year).... now I admit I am not perfect with it but it's never had any serious damage, I don't think, maybe a bump here or there but, It's not like I dropped it real hard or anything... what can I do here?

(All my computers seem to wind up with corruption, Is it all from physical damage? I just am at wits end here, I have tried my best to be very protectie of this computer but still corruption and still I can't fix it)

THANK YOU for any help.

Yes that is exactly why, I saw 8 and said 8 is one better than 7, so I will do that.

When 8.1 came out, I needed that .1 more because more is better in all things. Accumulating extra .1s is how you succeed at life
