When i opened the box everything looked good, I then looked at the 24 pin connector and saw this

I went to /r/buildapc but they didn't really help that much.
I hooked it up to my current computer and everything worked fine, played a couple games too see if everything ran smoothly and it did.

Should i send it in for RMA or should i just keep it??

I ordered it from Amazon.ca. So i should send it back? they need a reason apparently, would this just be a case of the item being damaged? Is it damaged that much, i am new to computers so i dont know if the damage is THAT bad to need to send it back, becasue some plastic is misshaped.

I didn't buy it used, so i don't think its somebodies junk, maybe just a manufacturing error. What would you do?

BS......... it's not new. might look new but somebody screwed it up. maybe on the assembly line/maybe a rat chewed on the plastic while the parts were in a bin and quality control didn't catch it or quality control didn't exist. just tell them you're concerned of a possibility of an electrical short.

If the amazon vendor sold it as New then yes send it back, the damaged plug is not cosmetic and you will have a hard time plugging it in (if you are even able to plug it in without trimming the deformations away). Even if they sold it as used, it's still missing a connector pin and you will have to do something (like add a pin) to get it working - justifiable reason to send it back.

From the little I can see in that image, it looks used (new cables are usually a lot more stiff than those look).

Did the vendor list it as new? I'm curious to know :)

I did buy it new, I would never buy used parts. Apparently they are out of stock now, so is it still worth sending it back? As i said in the original post, it DOES work, and i was able to fit it into the 24 pin socket fine.

I'd return it for that, i'm actually surprised you managed to get it in the slot. The messed up pin is one of two +12V pins for that connector(assuming you have the +4), if the crimp on that pin got damaged it may heat up and melt over time since there aren't good alternate routes.

@Dom, that "missing" pin has been intentionally omitted from PSUs for almost 10 years now, it was the -5V rail previously but that has since been removed, so no, he doesn't need to add a pin to it, that is normal.

Thank you for your response, it actually wasn't that difficult to plug it in. It was just 20 pins, without the +4. I still have a couple days to think about it. and they don't have anymore in stock, so idk. But thank you!

I meant that there is another 4 pins that connect to the 20 pins, but the damaged one is on the corner of the 20. sorry for any miscommunication. So there is 24 pins, its just number 20 that is damaged. if that makes sense. so the picture i took is from the corner of the 20 pins.

don't have any more in stock is like a car salesman saying thaT CAR DOESN'T COME IN BLUE........... they want you to NOT return it. I'd return it and get a refund....... if more people did that how good do you think it would,be for business?

what did you buy?

This is what i bought: http://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00EON40CS/?tag=pcp0f-20

It got really good reviews, and it did work when i used it, and i played games for a little bit (30-40 minutes) and everything was fine, i kindof stretched out the plastic a little so it be wider to fit it onto the motherboard.

I have until the 19th to return it.
