Hi,

I'm having trouble in deciding on what mobo and gpu combo to get. I have chosen MSI and GIgabyte for my build. I want quaility on both mobo and gpu. But after reading alot of bad stories regarding these two brands lately, i have decided to hold off and research abit more on what to buy, I need opinions from people that had experience with the two brands i have chosen. Any opinions would be much appreciated.

MSI Z97 Gaming 7 Intel LGA 1150 ATX Motherboard
MSI GeForce GTX 780 Gaming Overclocked 3GB

or

Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 7 LGA 1150 Motherboard
Gigabyte GeForce GTX 780 3GB Overclock Video Card

If you do want both from the same manufacturer and the best combo, look at the Asus Z97 Hero and their 780 CU, the Hero was the cream of the Z87 mobos and the the Z97 is even better, I have one with a 4770K in it while waiting for the Devils Canyon K models release, have run my 780CU in it together (SLI) and singularly

Thanks for you opinion, but isn't buying the same brand the mobo gives the gpu a boost, where if you buy a different branded gpu it doesn't get that boost.

Nope. Standards are standards.

So when you say standard are standard you mean when not overclocking you don't get the boost then if you do overclock you do. Is that what you mean?

+1 to SS

There are some that claim better performance if you use their cards with their mobos, but I haven't seen it yet, at least nothing you can't do yourself, for the Z87s of all the builds I did, across the board (about +/- 50), the Asus mobos have/had the best handle on the chipset, and it appears the Z97s are even better, have my Hero and have built on the Z97-A and the Pro

What he means is that there is no performance difference between an MSI board and an ASUS GPU than there is with 2 of the same brand. Overclocking also has no bearing on brand of anything.
