Excluding a file from a format possible?

I have a seagate 1.5TB drive i used to use as main hdd. now i have a 2TB wd as main and would like to format the old drive windows and all, but i have a video folder on it that is 1TB. Is there any way to format the drive without transferring the folder and dirtying up my nice new hdd?

yes, as Someone Somewhere said; instead of formatting the drive, simply delete all the other folders (do a shift+del to avoid putting all the deleted files into the recycle bin)
