It is an Asus Republic of Gamer laptop. Just spent some time blowing dust out of it with a can of compressed air and also have an external fan under it just in case.
And I actually just checked my graphics card manufacturer's page. They put out an update recently (6-17) so I installed it. Still having the same problems :/

Update: Still no change. I have looked into the BIOS, but not seeing where to disable to overclocking. I've done a search on the matter, but nothing that seems to help.
Looked at the manual, but everything regarding the BIOS showed nothing about overclocking. Not really sure what to do at this point as I've updated my drivers, and have addressed any heat problems the computer may or may not have had. Also did a virus scan and nothing has turned up. So is overclocking my issue?

Video card: nvidia GeForce 560M - aha - a laptop
Core i7 intel - any idea which one?
G74s model - this one: http://www.asus.com/ROG_ROG/G74SX/ ?
Direct X 11
Win 7 - 64 bit?

http://www.asus.com/ROG_ROG/G74SX/specifications/ -
the i7 2630QM I gather
How much RAM you got?
Which HDD? Got a SSD?

Got any warranty left?

Okay.

processor: intel core i7-2670QM @ 2.20 GHz 2.19 GHz
System: 64 bit OS
Ram: 12GB

I have gone in and reseated the ram. Also uninstalled the video card driver, rebooted, than reinstalled.

Still not sure how to disable overclocking. If someone could help me with that I would appreciate it greatly.

Still getting BSOD with the errors alternating between 0x000000A (IRQL_not_less_or_equal) and 0x0000001E.

Okay so the option of reseting my windows did not work.

Found power4gear, but not quite sure where i disable disable the overclocking. What i did was lower the max processor state and min processor state, as well as set it to moderate battery saving in the processor power management section of the High performance tab. No change.

Manual did not help, but i will look over it again. i am getting an error 0x0000000A now as well. They sort of alternate.

When i ran the blue screen view it keeps telling me that the driver ntoskrnl.exe is what's giving me troubles. What is going on here?

ntoskrnl.exe is Windows NT Operating System Kernel.

Microsoft says -
"This behavior can occur if any or some of the following conditions are true:
The Default value in the [Boot Loader] section of the Boot.ini file is missing or invalid.
Windows XP is not installed in the location specified in the Boot.ini file.
The Ntoskrnl.exe file is missing or damaged.
The partition path in the Boot.ini file is not set correctly.
General hardware failure."

The says to try -
Method 3

Start the computer by using your Windows XP CD-ROM. Press any key to boot from the CD.
After the setup files are finished loading press R to repair using Recovery Console.
When you are in the recovery console, select the installation to log on to (usually number 1), and then press ENTER.
Login to the Administrator account by typing the password for this account, and then press ENTER.
At the recovery console command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:

For Uni-Processor systems:
expand <cd-drive>:\i386\ntoskrnl.ex_ <hd-drive>:\Windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
For Multi-Processor systems:
expand <cd-drive>:\i386\ntkrnlmp.ex_ <hd-drive>:\Windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
Note In these two commands, the <cd-drive> placeholder represents the drive letter of your CD drive, and the <hd-drive> placeholder represents the drive letter of the hard disk on which windows is installed.
If you receive a prompt to overwrite the file, press Y.
Type exit, and press ENTER at the command prompt.
Method 4

Start the computer by using the Recovery Console, and then run theCHKDSK /rcommand.

Note You do not have to include the /p switch in the Chkdsk command-line because the /r switch causes the Chkdsk utility to locate bad sectors and recover readable information. This command implies the /p switch..

Thank you so much for all of your help. i do not have my windows cd as i am living abroad and left it back at home. My external hd is also back at home so what i've decided to do is take the laptop back with me on my vacation in July, put all of the files i want onto the external hd, and then proceed to revamp my computer using the windows cds. i have ordered a new, custom computer in the process. this one comes with tech support and is a desktop so i am hoping to get more life out of it. Once again thank you for all of your help :)
