Hello

I bought an asus gtx 760 directcu2oc and for my system....the dvi works fine,,,no problems there, but when I try to connect it with my hdmi cable to my hdtv, the tv doesnt detect the hdmi.
However I hear a sound from my pc,the kind of sound you hear when you plug in a usb,,,and the display on my monitors goes im extended mode,,,but nothing happens on my tv

Previously I used an evga gtx550ti,,and used a mini hdmi to hdmi cable that worked fine

The hdmi cable itself probably is not faulty,,,because it works with my laptoo(though it has a 720p screen)

My system specs are
Intel i7 3770k
Intel dh77kc mobo
8gb corsair vengeance ram
500w cooler master psu
Samsung eh5300 hdtv
Samsung series 4 led with a 1080 p display

O,,and I might mention that i updated my bios because when I tried to run the card in the first place,,,it gave no output whatsoever,,not even with the dvi input.

A quick response shall be appreciated

Thankyou.

So neither monitor or cable are faulty?
I had (have) the same problem. My pc would detect the monitor , I could change all sort of settings for it like resoution etc but it just stays in "sleep mode". PC even detected it hardvare id and model (I can see this with my other monitor connected trought VGA). But all I get is black screen :(
So I tried:
reinstaling drivers- not working
lowering the resolution- not working
lowering refresh rate- not working
tried force detection- not working
even tried to find drivers for monitor (instead of "plug and play" win7 default)- not working
So I was sure that my cable AND monitor ARE working.
So I checked hdmi output on my vdeo card and saw that my pins (there are 19) are NOT lined in?? Some are way back, smoe are normal and some are a little pulled in. So ill try to "pull them" out. Check it if this is your problem. HDMI (expecially nickel plated) are sensitive to pulling out and in over and over.

Thank u for the reply,il try it,,,,but I think that the tv,the cable and even the(the sole reason of this belief is that sound I hear when I plug in hdmi and my pc monitor going to extended mode)gpu all r fine, because I think the gpu detects hdmi,,,,,i just cant access it thru my tv

I heard that specific cables could be the problem. For example if you cable is for HDMI 1.4v and your tv supports 1.3v its not going to work. Check it.
