Hi, i recently bought new motherboard+CPU+ram, the motherboard is making high pitch electrical noise that is barely heard, some people don't hear it at all but it annoys me.

I noticed that if i plug ethernet cable the noise slighly increase. The motherboard I/O shield might be installed incorectly, i bended those metal tabs out of the way but some aren't touching the motherboard anymore.

I had this PSU on other compe previously and i don't recall that whistle sound so i suspect the motherboard. Also the previous comp was louder so it might have covered that noise but i doubt it.

PC specifications:
Motherboard - Asus H97M-E ( http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/H97ME/ )
CPU - Intel i7 4790
PSU- Corsair GS 800 800w
GPU - Asus R9 270x
RAM - Crucial Balistix 1866Mhz 9-9-9-27

Should i RMA the motherboard? I really don't want to be without a comp for few days and then get same problem.

Can it be that the PSU is too strong now with the new haswell CPU instead of my old Q6600 Quad?

Probably coming from the GPU and not the motherboard? That is more common. It is probably not a sign of damage but you still might be able to get an RMA and hope for a unit that won't have the whine. Try to determine exactly what part is doing it and then ask for an RMA, or else you can just learn to live with it.

quite a few threads on it:http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1643868/coil-whine-pinpointing-loud.html

Thanks for links, i learned something there but they are mostly talking about laptop and it's from 2010, also i have i7 4790 CPU, the most popular solution there is to disable idle processor which means the CPU's would work at max all the time, that's not viable for me, my CPU is too strong for that and would run too hot.

I can't return it to the shop cause it passed 15 day return time, should i contact directly Asus Europe warranty?
