I have a lenovo y500 laptop running windows 8

My computer has suddenly started to be EXTREMELY sluggish. Games i could run at 170 frames now are unplayable. I have not changed anything on my computer, downloaded anything or anything like that. Playing video games one day completely fine, the next day unplayable. it is not game specific, everything is being slow.

This exact thing happened before, suddenly super slow. it was fixed by restoring my computer to factory defaults. After restoring my computer everything work great again.
(not a hardware problem)

It is definitely not a virus, i have not been doing anything but gaming, and have a antivirus (avast) installed. I tried defragmenting my computer, no help.

Anyone have any suggestions? anything is appreciated!

Avast? i don't like it. Well, nearly all antiviruses does the same thing-slows down the pc. However, try repairing indexes and registries with Advanced system care. Try to do a bios update. If everything fails, do a clean installation of windows.

I have always used the antivirus, so that's not the problem. I did try uninstalling it, no difference except start up time. Their is no bios updates.

How do i repair indexes and registries?
