i want to assemble a new gaming pc for that I have selected following components

AMD 3.5 GHz AM3+ FX 8320 8 Core Piledriver Processor

Asus M5A97 R2.0 Motherboard

Seasonic Eco Series 600W Power Supply

Corsair 8GB DDR3 RAM (CMZ8GX3M1A1600C10) x 2

Zotac GTX NVidia 560ti 1gb ddr5 GPU( this product I already own)

plz advice

if I choose i5 chip is it compatible with the said motherboard , my friend tells me in near future games will need more cpu cores dats why amd , also plz explain why I need 8gb ram only

Even in games using more threads, the i5 still wins. BF4 can utilize 8 threads, but the i5 still beats it, and usually by quite a bit.

And only 8GB of RAM is needed for gaming. Even the most demanding games won't put you over 6GB of RAM usage.

To add, you would need an Intel Socket 1150 motherboard to use an i5, the motherboard above is strictly for AMD CPUs.
