Internet Connection Issue

I switch my ethernet cord from my Ps4 to my laptop depending on what one I'm currently playing, but when it's on my laptop the latency and connection gets worse on and off. When I plug the ethernet into my laptop is automatically connects with it but it still uses my wifi at the same time. Should I disconnect from my wifi, disable the wifi, or leave it as-is?

Thanks, but the power isn't an issue, as I always have my laptop plugged in while i'm using it. I'm just trying to figure out what is causing the occasional disconnects when I have my Ethernet cord in. Now it's not the cord itself because I already tried a different cord and the problem persisted.
