Yet another PSU query (but hopefully very easy)

It's an understatement to say that I'm not much of a hardware guy but my old PSU died so I need to swap it out asap. (And thank you, Tom's Hardware, for showing me how to test the PSU to make sure that really was the faulty part!) The PSU that died was a 400w dual rail (12V/18A) and I already have on hand a 600W PSU single rail (12V/18A) - would that be an adequate replacement? I have a complete blindspot when it comes to volts, amps & watts - it doesn't matter how many times I read how simple it is, I don't get it, so I just need someone to pat me on the head & say yes or no.

Probably not, it has considerably less amperage on the 12V rail.

My dead PSU is an FSP400-60EMDN, an FSP custom job for Medion. I fell at the first hurdle by not being able to figure out how to attach the photo I shot of the unit but I hope these are the specs you need:

FSP400-60EMDN
+3.3V 15A
+5V 21A
+12V1 18A
+12V2 18A
-12V 0.3A
+5VSB 2.5A

These are the corresponding figures for my spare unit which I misrepresented in my original post for reasons I won't go into. It's not quite as bad as I suggested.

ACE PSUACE600BR
+3.3V 30A
+5V 36A
+12V 26A
-12V 0.5A
+5VSB 2.5A

As for my setup, I'm afraid I'm going to hit a wall there as I don't know what specs I'd need to identify and it would probably take you too long to tell me. It's an unmodified Medion Akoya P4314 from 2009! You can probably tell its needs are modest from the PSU it came with.

Quoting the list that Damric posted eariler:

Tier five - Replace immediately. These units are NOT recommended for any system, no matter the purpose. Reference to higher tiered models for a better and potentially money-saving unit

That's a very handy list to have! I suppose I should amend my question a little: if I'm planning on saying goodbye to this PC in 6-9 months and want to avoid spending anything on it until then, would the crappy Ace I have sitting around be an adequate replacement for the PSU I had to keep me up & running for that long..?

Blast. Not what I was hoping to hear but I'm grateful for the assistance. Many thanks.
