How to I clear the data from a USB Memory stick?

Can I do this?
I am using WIN XP PRO SP 3 32 bit.
I am trying to re-set Firefox....using my new Imation brand 8 GB USB stick, I also saved my passwords, prior to t/f to IE, but got the file mixed up with the profile one I had also created. Is it possible to clear the memory & start over?
Also, I know this sounds stupid, but I forgot how to recover data from the USB stick! How do I do this? I like to be able to see if I did it all correctly..

towipe away ur usb do this:

Open up Windows Explorer and right-click on your drive in the sidebar. Choose "Format".
In the "File System" dropdown, choose NTFS or fat32
Click Start and close this window when finished.

reformating the usb drive will wipe away files and will make it clean again

How do I know which format to click on, fat32 or NTFS, please?
