I have an Asus k52f with a P6200. I'm looking to breathe a bit of new life into the laptop with a cpu and ram upgrade. Looking on the asus site it shows the the laptop as being offered with an i5-540m. Although upon looking for one I noticed there were two versions. The SLBTV and the SLBPG. So I am confused on which one to get, or if a i5-540m is the highest I can safely go in this laptop. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thx, Shock

Both the P6200 and the i5-540 appear to be pin-compatible. The SLBTV and the SLBPG are Product Change Notifications that Intel files as they make small changes to a specific chip over it's life.

Before you do this, I would suggest you consider and investigate whether a motherboard and BIOS designed to support a dual-core processor is cabable of supporting a quad-core processor. Also look into power requirements and whether it is supported.

Make sure there are no BIOS updates required.
