How clean my HDD? Very dirty

How should I clean the surface of my HDD? It has a lot of deep set in dust that compressed air can't move.

Would using rubbing alcohol and a paper towel be a good idea?

Rubbing alcohol and a rub down is fine. Just avoid the control board and connectors if at all possible, but it won't be a disaster if you got alcohol on them.

Thanks, HDD looks a little better, I could sand the metal surface a little to make it shine or use metal polish but...that's just ridiculous.
