My MB is not recognizing my HDD after I swapped it to a different bay. Here's my setup: MSI G45 Z87, i7 4770k, 8 GB Corsair Vengeance RAM, 780 TI, and a 1 TB WD Cavier Black. I recently purchased a Corsiar 760 T case and after I reassembled my system I noticed that the HDD was rattling the case. I moved some wires around and that fixed the issue. It came back again tonight so I decided to try putting the drive in a different bay. I swapped it out and then I got an error after post saying "cannot find required map name. Press esc in x seconds to skip startup.nsh." I restarted and booted into setup and the board explorer says that all of my SATA ports are empty.

I tried restoring defaults, resetting CMOS, and changing SATA ports on the MB to no avail. The HDD does spin up and it does make some read/write noises on startup, but that's it. What could be wrong? Right before I shut it down I had a Windows 8 update install.

So I went digging through my tech graveyard and found an 160gb Maxtor out of an old iMac. I hooked it up and the bios found it without issue. I tried the Maxtor cable on my WD and it wouldn't recognize it. I'm guessing the disk is toast.
