I have 2 laptops Mac Pro and Lenovo Ideapad but they are real slow once multiple softwares are installed and running.

I was looking for a machine which is fast and efficient.

I recently checked the iMac were available for low price so is it a good choice or not ?

If not can you please advice what kind of configuration should I go for that will help the system to be up to speed with latest technology changes and trends.

Appreciate your advice and help

To recommend a system I will need to know your budget, software you will use, if you want to buy it pre-made or build it yourself. If you want to be up to speed with the latest technological trends the iMac will not really be that good to you, it isn't a real workstation so to speak. If you really need a mac and are looking for workstation level performance you should have your sights on no lower than the base MacPro. However if you could provide that information it would be much easier for us to give you a good recommendation.

Since you didn't give us all the information from the sticky I'm going to assume you're in the USA. Here's a build that will work good for your use and budget. I went with the large SSD and 32GB of RAM so you can host multiple virtual machines and they will all run very quickly. You could technically run the system off of the integrated GPU, but I went with the GTX 750 Ti for a little additional GPU acceleration if the software you will be using can use it.
