Sorry if this story is so long I just want everything to be out there and not leave any positive clue of what problem I might have. If you think you can figure it out without reading the whole thing then just read the very bottom

Ok so first I bought a new set of 2x4GB RAM to add with my old 2x4GB RAM. I read somewhere that the timings must be the same in order for it to work but the store I was in (canadacomputers) did not have the exact RAM timings I had and offered me a different set and told me they don't really have to be similar and if theres any problem I can just return it.

Anyways I bought the RAM, installed it, and when I turn it on the PC goes on but the Monitor doesn't (this isn't the problem anymore, at least I don't think so)... I read online that I might have damaged the RAM or something else or I just installed it incorrectly... I reinstalled the new RAM mixing with my old one and finally everything works (well the monitor did turn on)

Now I get to reach my Windows and the usual stuff you see when starting a computer but when I open my Steam or Firefox (possibly other programs) when I click anywhere in these programs they always STOP RESPONDING... not the type where you can END NOW...no... they STOP RESPONDING... meaning they're unclickable... I thought at first it was normal so I thought I'd go Firefox while I wait for Steam to respond... but Firefox stops too... after that every other program I touch(click) Stops Responding... and I can't even click anything on my Desktop... not the 'START' button nor the Clock at the bottom... nothing... everything can't be clicked.

I used my favorite (possibly everyones favorite) move... CTRL+ALT+DEL and when I click OPEN TASK MANAGER it gives me a blank screen and yes I waited but it was basically forever... so I restarted and it keeps doing the same thing... then I googled about this and it told me something about using my Command Prompt to RESET some "Netsch" something something?
After doing this I was finally able to use my Steam, Firefox, every other program without crashing... for 2 days? all these happened the day before yesterday... yesterday until now was all great... I used my computer for more than 10 hours yesterday (ikr?) and never had a problem... and my computer was on for 2 days now without any problem...

***********REAL PROBLEM HERE************
Now the real problem comes in...basically same thing is happening...everything stops responding when I either open or click them... the only problem is that it doesn't even let me use CTRL+ALT+DEL anymore... before it lets me see the options before it goes black...but now the CTRL ALT DEL doesn't do anything at all anymore. I am typing now with the same computer with Google Chrome hoping it doesnt crash in the middle of this long boring story. I have my Steam and Firefox closed and so far its not crashing anything yet... I am scared to open them again -.-

Thanks for taking the time reading this... I really appreciate any help I can get. THANKS!

My guess is that you probably mixed the ram in the wrong slots. Try switching them. Usually they are different colored slots like blue and then a black. Put the old ram in the same color slot and the newer ram in the other colored slots and see if that resolves the problem.

Ok I don't really remember the color slots but basically before I upgraded my RAM this is how my old ones are set up... basically 1 open slot between them...

Slot 1 2 3 4
old RAMs are in 1 and 3...since I built my PC and still the same place now... so I figured I'd put the new ones in 2 and 4... I NEVER moved my old RAM ever... and I never had a problem back then so I think the way my old ones are placed is correct... so why would the new ones be wrong? at least thats what I think...

Ok so I was able to use my Firefox without any problem... but when I open my Steam it happened again... idk what Steam has against the new RAM I installed but they definitely don't like each other but like I said earlier... they worked together for 2 days until now... IDK whats going on... still waiting for help.
