Lower memory clock, will my GPU suffer performance?

I have an R7 260X 2GB OC Edition. The problem with this card is that it crashes randomly with black screens while idle or browsing the net, youtube etc. But no crashes while gaming. Tried every official and beta drivers from AMD and Sapphire. I found a fix, which requires me to lower this card's memory clock to 500mhz or 750mhz for a 2D profile. No more black screens, but I'm worried how much performance I will suffer from doing this.

Solution
Not much at all. GPU downclocks have a big effect, but not memory downclocks.

Doesn't seem much of a fix. Any feedback from manufacturers?
I've seen lots of threads on this.

Nope, I was hoping to hear feedback from them too. Thanks for the answer!
