I'm building a new PC(it's about time my current one is 7 years old), and my total budget is a 1000$. Now I'm leaning more towards a 290X custom GPU though if you have a better GPU in mind I'll think about it as long as it's not more expensive than the 290X. My question is: which CPU should I get to go along with the 290X. I plan on playing purely on 1900x1080 and I enjoy RTS and RPG games as much though more often than not even more so than FPS games.
And even though I've never done it I'm willing to try overclocking.

Well, if u are on budget, then you should go with a fx.8350. A 4690k/4670k would be costly for a 1000$ build and that too with the gpu(290X) which alone costs 500$. I think you should get a fx8350 and a R9 290. That would fit the budget.
Do u need me to do the build for you?

I have a few configurations that could fit your recommendations but sure I'll take all the advice you can give me!
