This will be a higher end gaming rig with a budget of approx $4k. I am trying to figure out the best way to set up the drives. This is mostly gaming but I also do photography (Adobe Lightroom) and Photoshop. My main source of backing up will likely be an external drive with cloning software.

I am going for the absolute fastest gaming possible. Help me set up the drives. Budget will be approx 1k for the drives. I was considering a 512gb SSD for the OS and current games and then a 3.5 for everything else. Is this the fastest though? Perhaps it might be faster to go with two SSD in RAID 0?

I just don't know. I want to get some outside advice. My other components will include:

Intel i7-4790K
EVGA GTX 780Ti 3GB GDDR5 354-Bit Dual Link x2
32gb memory (brand unknown at this time)

Solution
you will sacrifice preformance for reliability with raid and you will end up spending double the money for onlt 512 gb
i think its not worth it.buy a 4tb hard drive and 512 gb ssd.
