Below is the list of components I'm planning on using in my first ever build. I just want someone knowledgable to confirm that all the parts can/will work together properly and I won't get any nasty incompatability surprises.

Also want to know if this specific build is future proof for the next 4-5 years? Useing 1080p and at least High settings with 60+fps.

More about : components compatible future proof

No such thing as future proof. The 280x is already 2.5 years old (7970). Is it a solid build? Yup. But dont expect it to keep holding up as old as it is already. I love my 7970, but, it came out in Jan of 2012 if im not mistaken.

Everything is compatible here and will perform great. To my eyes, the only 2 things sticking out are:

1) the case is cheapo, get something larger with better airflow. You got a lot of powerful components there, so why should you skimp on the case, right?

2) lack of ssd hurts my eyes :)  they are quite cheap these days and the make a huge performance difference. Get one for the system drive.

As regards the case, that's one area I was hoping to cut some costs on, if I could I'd use the R200 instead of the R300 but I've read that it's an extremely tight fit with the EVO 212.

It will be worth it. After all, you are planning long-term. Seriously consider it, at least. This case is small and you could end with overheating issues. Vga card blows all the heat into your case. Having the exact same card, i can tell you that the air it blows out could easily be used to dry your hair. It is that hot. I had to use a 250mm side fan as exhaust to get reasonable temps inside the case.

The ssd is not a must, but it helps performance a lot.

What case(s) would you recommend? I'll deffinately look into getting a larger one if that is the case. (no pun intended lol)

Hehe :)  Well, since you already opted for Corsair (and they make very decent enclosures), I'd say go with 500R. It has a big side fan and is larger overall. This should make things cooler. Any Corsair Obsidian starting from 450D should do as well. Of course, if you prefer silence to cooling you can't go wrong with Fractal Define R4 or Nanoxia Deep Silence 1.
