My question is quite general,

Which motherboard brand is the best in terms of reliability?

and soon I will buy an i5 4690, what motherboard should I get?

something in the 100-150 USD range

and does the chipset even matter?

take note of the current specs I have which can be seen on my signature

my ram will be upgraded to 2x4gb once I get the i5

thanks in advance

I doubt there are ROGs that cost in the 100-150 USD range

You are right the cheapest is $178 and fits your build every other way...well, almost any ASUS one is fine.

Different chipsets have different features. Z97 allows you to take advantage of the unlocked multiplier on a K-series processor (allows overclocking, basically) and has extra PCIe lanes that are useful if you're going to use SLI or Crossfire.

Since you're using a locked i5-4690, and I'm assuming one video card, Z97 is probably a waste of money. H97 is a better fit in that case.

Also, well the Z87/H87 boards are compatible, I don't see any point in spending the same amount of money for fewer features. Even if those features aren't needed.
