Hello.

My brother has had a PC for less than a year and had next to zero problems with it.

Recently (within the past month or so) he's had his PC crash totally. I'm talking black screen, loud buzzing before shutting down completely, the only fix being restarting.

I've tracked down the issue to his GT620 (I think) since it's hitting temps of 100 degrees (Celsius). I was wondering if anybody had any idea's as to why this was occuring. Has there been a recent driver update that's screwed something up, should he replace the card, or has something else happened?

He has 8GB RAM, 3.4GHz processor (I-7 3770), GIGABYTE GA-H61MA-D3V motherboard, running Windows 7.

The crash most often occurs when running a game, but I'm not even talking high end games. It's crashed running Garry's mod (not high end) all the way through to games such as Civ5, and minecraft.

Solution
Once a PC crashes due to an overheating GPU, it will take less and less of a load to re crash the GPU. I suggest not crashing it again and just replacing the card.

I kinda suspected that would be the case. Just holding out the vague hope it wouldn't be.

Thanks man.

I have the same problem, my gt620 also runs at 99 degrees. I tried downclocking (or underclocking) the card a bit, but that didnt help at all. I used MSI afterburner to do this by the way. The only solution is to but a better GFX card.
P.S. My card hasn't crashed yet so I am lucky
