Hey everybody !

So i bought all the parts for my computer exept the processor. I was going to buy i7 4770k when someone told me to buy the new i7 4790k. I wanted to know if it will work on my MSI Z87 G45 Gaming. Some people say that i just need to upgrade my BIOS And some others tell me that it will not work at all. Also in the specification on the processor it says : Memory Types : DDR3-1333/1600. I have a DDR3 1866 module. Will it work ?

Thanks

DDR3-1333/1600 < They all state this on the Intel site for the CPU , SAME FOR 47770K .You can navigate to the DRAM settings in the BIOS and set the XMP profile and it will run at 1866.You will need a BIOS update if the board doesn't have the latest revision.

Should be compatible as i7-4790K is designed to support Z87/Z97 series. And your DDR 1866 may be reduced to 1600 when it's together with 4790K. 4790K is more capable of OC and the pricing is similar with 4770K, go for the 4790K.
