My laptop recently broke (Acer Aspire) and I decided instead of repairing it, i wanted to buy a new better computer all together. Right now my Acer has what they called a corrupt video card, which has nothing to do with the HDD, and so I want to know how to get the data out of the working HDD.

What places do it? I tried CanadaComputers, but it costs $80! So I really need this.

Thanks!

Get an external USB enclosure for the drive, you need a 2.5" one. Copy your files from there, the user files on Windows 7 are in C:\Users\ProfileName. The main ones are Documents, Desktop and Favorites. You can just copy them to the same location on the new system.
