I would like to construct a new PC from scratch that would be used for 3D rendering as well as playing video games. I am in school as a concept artist, and enjoy developing environments and assets. I understand the graphics cards should be different for both functions (gaming, rendering). I am worried that all of my components will not work well together. I have a budget of approximately $2,500. I am not interested in overclocking, but I do want to have enough RAM. I have spec'd out some builds specifically for gaming, but I think I would sell myself short in the 3D rendering if I go that route. I do not do heavy video work, but will make some small videos of environments and assets. Can I build a PC with two graphics cards that adapt based on my activity? Please let me know if there are any other questions I can answer to help drive the best solution.

Are you sure you want to spend that much. It only costs around 12-1600 for a top of the line computer for your purposes.

Ron - thanks for your quick answer. I don't recall seeing the GPU in your list. Also, schau thinks I can do it for less, but I'm still looking for advice on whether I need one GPU or two - one for rendering and one for games. One other thing, I am quite certain I require at least 16 GB of RAM for the rendering software. Most of the hardcore designers recommend 32.
