I recently upgraded to windows 8.1 pro and did a clean install (Wipe everything but windows) and after install i see i only have 112 GB left out of 500 GB i was wondering how you clean this empty space on the drive

Solution
Right click the folder and go to Properties. In the Security tab you could click on Add and type in everyone then click the Check Names button. Everyone will be there so highlight it and give it full control. Yo ushould then be able to delete the folder.

There's a disk space checker I used to use but the name has fallen out of my mind. treeSize might help but if that Windows.old folder has a folder named Winsxs and that's overblown, you'll get a lot back by losing the whole folder. Hibernation takes a lot and System restore points and Pagefile gobble up quite a bit but not as much as you're missing.
If you have a folder named Windows.old in the root of C: and if you've transferred all your old data to the new system, you can safely delete it. That said, that's a huge chunk of missing space - are you sure the disk wasn't partitioned into two lots of 250Gb? Even so, there's a lot missing.

I didn't partition it and it says i need permission from SYSTEM to make changes to the folder. When i click try again the same screen pops up again
