Since when is 4300>6300 or put it 6cores>4cores at same clock and tehnology. Are you stupid or just trolling . Fx 6300 is considered best buy for performance/price in the 100-150€ price class. Go for 6300 best solution and a r9 270 non x ( since no real diference beteewn them except clocks). Tell the budget you have for best matches.

He asked about an Athlon X4 750K and an FX 4300 so im not sure why you are talking about an FX 6300. Although given that as an option it would be better. Also GPU's were never mentioned.

As for the question at hand, in terms of general performance and single-core performance the two are very similar but the 4300 has a slight edge over the athlon. It is the same story across most popular benchmarks such as geekbench and passmark. However on 3D Mark 11 (physics) the 4300 really pulls out leagues ahead so for your needs the FX 4300 would be better. As mentioned though, if you can stretch to a 6300 then go for it otherwise the 4300 will suit your needs nicely.

Between the 2 choices, I'd go with the Athlon 750K, since at least the FM2+ socket is still alive. Unlike AM3+, which is dead.

And yeah, an i3-4130 would outperform an FX-6300. But both of those cost too much, so why are we bothering to talk about it?

A 6300 is only $10 more than a 4300 on newegg. Also, the i3 is only $15 more than a 4300. If $15 is going to make a pc build unaffordable to him, then he probably shouldn't be spending what little money he has on a pc. I am guessing that $15 is not a big deal for him considering the performance difference he will experience.

We're not certain he's from the US or Europe. In some countries moving past the low-end of PC hardware makes the price shoot way up. They could easily be charging a premium for a hexa-core or an i3. For example, apparently in India a CX430 goes for 1500 INR and a CX500 goes for 2800 INR. There's not nearly a big enough difference in quality between those units to justify the price increase, considering in the US it's $50 versus $70, not $50 versus $95.
