Recently my hard drive died on my Dell PC. I'm attempting to locate a copy of the OS disk so that I can try to fix it atm. However, if the disk isn't salvageable, could I install a new copy of Windows XP using the same product key, but a different disk? I don't believe it is OEM.

Thanks in advance!

You should be able to install as long as the windows version is the same I.E. Pro x64 or Enterprise x32. You can use the key on the same computer. But it's only good for one computer, at least, that's how it's supposed to work.

probably have no problem as long as the version of windows you are installing matches the one your product key is good for.aside from that,no matter what you have heard,xp is a dead horse.i would look into win7 if i were you.
